black hawk down section 5
Yes!!!!.. the last section in the book. This is when the book really get good, at least according to me. In this final section a huge rescue team is in pursuit of the teams. The only big problem that occurs is that they take a while to finally reach the soldiers. Then an unthinkable thing happens, which is when they leave one group behind. I think the truck drivers were complete wimps for leaving. Those men are probably the bravest men i have ever heard of because they did not give up but fought their way out. I am surprised of how nice Durant's captors were. He was truly lucky that they gave him food an medical attention and overall not killing him. It was sad when they had to relay the messages to the families where loved ones died. I felt that it was really cool at the end though when they all sing God Bless America.
Black Hawk Down section 4
This chapter is not one of the most action packed sections in the book. I say this because in this section they are pretty much just stacked out in houses during the night because they didn't bring their night vision goggles. It was pretty gross when they are talking about the injuries especially when they talk about the soldier how got shot and they can not close an artery that got spilt. So they are talking about how blood is going everywhere. It is pretty bad when they have to tie a soldier up to a board to move him to another room. The bad thing is, is that they can not get a med vac there to rescue the injured. I think it was really crazy when one group had to cross a road to get up to the other teams. The difficult part of that is that they had injured soldiers so it was an even slower process giving the Somalians a better chance to hit them.

Black Hawk Down section 3
In section three things continue to go bad. The CSAR rescue team is continually trying to get to the second downed black hawk. They are having trouble getting there because of road blocks where the Somalians are releasing heavy fire on them. While that is going on they have soldiers trying to reach the checkpoints but is increasingly difficult because of the heavy fire being inflicted upon them. The rescue ground soldiers make it there and are surprised at how many of the men are still alive. The first person they spot is Durant who has both of his legs broke. They set him aside where he starts releasing fire on a mob that is running up the street. He runs out of ammo and is captured by the Somalians who beat him in the street. It is crazy how it explains how he wasn't even in his body but was above looking at himself being beaten.

Black Hawk Down section 2
As usual in this book there is a great amount of blood and gore. In this section another Black Hawk goes down. This helicopter is taken down by an RPG(rocket propelled grenade). There is a rescue team sent out to help both of the downed helicopters, but there is miss communication from the spy copters so the rescue team makes the wrong turns and get lost while trying to get to the downed helicopters. In this attempt 8 soldiers die or have casualties. True leadership is shown by Jonathan Howe, an admiral in charge of the American Operation. The whole point of this war is to help the Somalians but i feel as if the Americans are just destroying Somalia and not getting anything accomplished.

Black Hawk Down section 1
This book really surprised me how graphic it was. This book is good but really long and hard to follow just because it is so detailed. I think this because they explain every casualty in depth a lot. I thought it was really bad when the Somalian people with the guns would put innocent people around them just so that the D boys and rangers couldn't shoot them. Also in the beginning when a soldier was on the turret of the Humvee he was shot in the head. This was very disturbing to me especially when they took him out of the vehicle and they said his head was gone. I really don't know what to think of the book yet because this is just a small part of this huge book.I hope that it will stay on one part and not skip different things.

a long way gone ch 21
Wow all I can say is that i believe Ishmael Beah has the worst luck. When you finally think that everything is going to be OK and he has found a family, then a war starts where he is living and his uncle dies. Also he almost becomes a soldier when he is going after food and the army are capturing and killing people. All i could think of is that it would depress him even more if he was put back in the army and all the trauma he would face. The only thing i didn't understand at the end of the book was why he did not take Muhammad with him to the United States to live with him. It must have been really hard for him to have to go through all those checkpoints and see how he acted when he was in the war, which was like a jerk. As an overall thought I saw this as an inspiring book to show that even when things get bad you still have things left to live for even if you don't know what that thing may be.

a long way gone ch 19-20
What a change. Ishmael is now a child again. It is really important when his uncle and his family show him love and cook him a nice dinner when he comes to live with them. Wow I never expected this but Ishmael has a girlfriend!(even though it's not very long) I think its good for Ishmael and his "brother" to hang out together because they share common interests. It wasn't really surprising to me when Ishmael is chosen to go speak because he is a good leader and definitely knows what he is talking about. It is really cool when he finally gets to America because he gets to see how we live and obviously it is very different. They differences include food, snow, and just the overall atmosphere. It was really funny when he said he was burning up in his hotel because he didn't know about radiators. In the end I am really happy for Ishmael.

a long way gone 17 and 18
This is when i really see ishmael changing for the good. He can finally trust someone. He is now over his drug use and you can see many improvements such as his sleeping ability. He does not have to take meds for sleeping. He now has his music again which brings back a great time of his past, which excites him inside. The best thing that happened to him though was when leslie found his uncle in the city. His uncle wants to take care of him and that excites ishmael because now he has family. Also he has someone to tell him about his past. It is also good that one of his uncle's kid likes soccer so they have something in common.
choice book blog
I don't really care what book I read. The only requirement is that it has something to do with sports. Preferably basketball. If not i could care less unless its twilight, which i don't want to ever read.

a long way gone 15 and 16
This chapter shows all the effect of the drugs on the soldiers. It is bad when a handful are taken to a rehab center and they do not like it even though they are given shelter, food, and new clothes. It shows that all they wanna do now is kill. Ishmael is not even the same kid, he is punching walls and hurting people that are trying to help him. These boys are going through complete withdraw from drugs. This is why i think they are acting so violent. It is sad that ishmael can not even bring back memories of his childhood because he has been brainwashed with war.I think it brings back a little bit when they go to the city because it is not war. I wonder why the person stopped buying their school books.

a long way gone ch 13-14
After I read these chapters all I can say is WOW. This was extremely disturbing to me. It was disturbing to me that in chapter 13 he knows he is getting ready to go into war and he grabs his gun for consolment. This is just sad that he feels that the gun is the only thing that gives him the sense of security. Ch 14 is when it really catches my attention when they give the soldiers all these drugs to calm their minds. That is really when Ismael is really like all the other people even like the rebels. He shows these characteristics when he talks about all the people he kills and all he thinks about is the stuff he took from the people. Also that he talks about smoking marijuana with the other soldiers and watching movies.

A long way gone ch 11-12
so far ch 12 has been the most disturbing scene in the whole book. It is just horrible how Ishmael gs hope that he is going to see his parents. But once he gets there the rebels come, and of course the gunfire starts and they completely destroy the village where his family is staying. The boys of course lose hope and start blaming each other for it.They end up throwing punches and injure each other which is pointless because they are not going to get anywhere with fighting each other. In ch 12 i was scared for Ishmael was taken to the next camp. It was actually a good thing for him because he got food, water, and shelter. This is true until the village is in a war with the rebels and the chief tells everyone to join the war or leave the village and most likely die. So I can see why Ishmael would join because he has nothing else to live for because he has no more family anymore, and why not get revenge on the people that took that away from him.

a long way gone ch 10
This has been the most discouraging chapter so far in this book. It is sad how his friend dies. the saddest part of it is that the reason why he died was because he said that every time he was in the danger of dying he was ready which is terrible to think that a kid is OK with dying. This has to be really tough for Ishmael especially when they are wondering who was going to be next to die which is really bad to be thinking this when you are only 13 and 16 years old to be put in this danger. I liked how the people of the village that they were staying in took great care of them and helped bury their diciest friend. I still do not see how these boys are doing what they are doing. It is truly inspirational because it shows even through the worst times it is better to keep living and never give up.

a long way gone 8-9
In this first chapter Ishmael's grandfather comes in a lot. he tells about a lot of memories from his childhood such as when his grandfather is teaching him about medicine plants. This really shows that he had a really great relationship with him and it meant a lot. It seems like the mood turns a little better when he runs into some of his old schoolmates. They get to bring back old memories and sing songs together. It is amazing how many times in ch 9 that they got caught and were almost killed every single time. The man in the hut was such a nice person for taking the boys in when they were injured and not well. it is really scary when they are chased down by the men of the village just across from the hut because they heard that they were living there. it is funny how rap music comes back to save them.

a long way gone ch 6-7
Losing a brother for the rest of my life would kill me. Ishmael had a hard time losing some of his friends ad his brother. I give Ishmael great props for being able to stay alive without having any kind of resources or parents to console him through this rough time in his life. It is amazing that people don't trust kids my age because they feel that we will kill entire villages. It is just amazing how people can go from completely trusting you to having to watch your every move to make sure you do not do something wrong. I know that I would not ever be able to live on my own I these conditions where anything can happen in a split second. in conclusion this book continues to surprise me in the ways that these people have to live in fear all because of the rebels.

a long way gone ch 3-5
It is amazing what starvation will do to you. In this book it turned these boys from being good citizens to stealing people's food during the night. it was sad when they had taken the 2 ears of corn from the little boy, when if they would have asked the boy for an ear of corn his mother would have made them some.I guess that if you are in bad conditions yo will do anything to get out of them. I just don't see how these rebels can do what they are doing to these innocent people. It must have been a horrifying scene to have watched people get shot and grenaded right behind you when you are trying to escape or seeing an old man being humiliated by the rebels. I feel bad for Ismael Beah, in that he had to go through this terrifying war during his childhood.

a long way gone ch 1 and 2
The start of this book is really neat to me in that these kids are talking about this rap music that I know about today. Also I found it quite funny that they were trying to do the running man! I feel it is bad when the father and son do not have a good relationship because of the boy's stepmother. It is really amazing how the boys mother can send send the youngest brother to school and take care of him.It was really amazing the transition of everything being good to being a complete disaster. It was really sad when they talk about the bloody people coming out of the van and how they whole family had been killed by the rebels. It was truly sad when it tells me about the dead baby on the woman's back. The one part I didn't understand though was when he was carrying the dead body.

things fall apart all the time in this book
The white men bring bad attitudes to the Ibo people who don't convert to their religion. This is present when a man kills twin babies and is sent to prison for it. There in the prison they beat him and make him do manual labor. The relationship to the people that convert is different and they are treated well and get to go to school. The British people view the Ibo people as ignorant and do not have the right religion that they are worshipping to. They feel this way because they don't have the same customs as they do. It is shown when Mr. Brown and Akunna try to persuade each other that their religion is better. Mr. Smith however was a different story and thought that the Ibo people were just plain evil and all he wanted to do is get rid of the Ibo ways of life. He shows this when he says that he thinks black and white and black is evil. Also the message people which also guard the prison treat the Ibo people with the most disrespect out of anyone and are constantly bringing pain and misfortune into the lives of the prisoners. This i bad because the Ibo people don't even know that they are committing crimes because they are just practicing their religion. Also the Ibo people can not understand the British because they do not speak their native tongue.

things fall apart sometimes
Okonkwo refuses to show females virtues because he feels as if it is a weakness. He does not believe in women virtues because women to him are not as powerful as men, so it does not meet his standards. This one-sidedness creates problems in his life because he can not care for his family the way he should. Also he does not feel that it is right to be buried where you came from because he feels that women are not that important and belong to their husbands.Okonkwo needs to be more caring to his sons for sure because they are always getting put down and that may be the reason that nowye went to Christianity . Also Okonkwo can not handle getting kicked out of his village and does not show any compassion to his family about that it was his fault the reason why they got kicked out. In conclusion, Okonkwo needs to show some of his personal sides to get to be closer to his kids.

Things Fall Apart
The opinion i have about Okonkwo is that he is very inconsiderate about other people's feelings. I feel this way because he is always getting mad at his son because he is thinking that he is getting lazy when he might not be lazy but can't exceed his high standards. he also has to remember that if he is mean to his sons they will most likely not like him when they are older and he has passed, just like his father. Also when okonkwo beat his wife he never even thought of what her feelings were like and how that would affect her before he started to beat her on the week of peace. Although he really dislikes his dad and has strong feelings about what his father has done, he should still try to like him just because he is his father and was the one who made him to what he is today .In conclusion , he should try to think of his actions before he does them, because in the end it will pay off because he will know the consequences of his actions.

P.S and his School
I believe the story will end with P.S. confessing to the teacher about him cheating on the Latin exam. i think he will do this because even though he wants to impress his dad he will turn himself in. I also believe that he is good kid and didn't mean to cheat on the test,it was just because he under so much pressure. Also he will feel to guilty to be able to go on without telling the teacher about what he did. Also he didn't go taking the test knowing that he was going to cheat,it was that he really wanted to go to Colorado with charlie and he knew that if he didn't pass the exam there would be no way for him to be able to go with him.I think that once he tells the teacher about what he did,he will stand up to his dad for once and tell him that he can't live up to his expectations.Once his dad sees him stand up to him he will respect him more and still let him go to Colorado with Charlie

Not Waving but Drowning
Once in my lifetime I had met a new person who I had really not cared for the first time I met him. I had thought that he was just really different from me just because he didn't act the same way as me the first time we met.I guess that I just felt that we were completely different and didn't share any common things. But once we had spent some time together on different occasions I started to notice that we were actually really close and shared the common likes and dislikes such as we both played the same multiple sports and we ended up having a lot of classes together. I later felt bad that my first impressions of this person, now a friend of mine for a long time might have led me to stay away from this person and never find the real person within who i can relate to.that's what really disappoints because then I would have never met this friend of mine who I have known now for 6 years. The moral of what I'm trying to portray is that I have now learned that you shouldn't make an observation or judgement of a person until you really get to know them.
